Betty Jean (Reid) Edwards

Betty Reid Edwards born to the late Hattie and Richard Reid Sr., on December 24, 1942, and departed this life on January 26, 2023, at her home surrounded by her brother James.

Bet as she was affectionately called was educated at E.J. Hayes school in Williamston, NC. Upon her graduation she later moved to Norwalk, CT. There she met and married the late Charles Edwards and to this union one daughter was born, her precious Lisa Edwards that she was so proud of and loved with all her heart.

Bet worked for 3-11 workers at Westport Healthcare Center as a CNA in Norwalk, Ct. for 25 plus years until her retirement. Bet had a rearing in church from her mother and grandmother and when she moved, She keep the faith and later joined Union Baptist Church in Norwalk, CT., where she sang in the choir. After moving back home she never had forgotten those songs she sung and would continue to do so on occasions at her home. Bet had such a great love for people that she always wanted to have BIG gatherings just to watch others eat and laugh and talk about the “good ole days” as she would recall it.

Bet enjoyed watching food channels, basketball games and gospel preachers on the television. Bet never lost her faith in God and she kept it there until the very end. She would tell everyone she came in contact with about Jesus and that he was her best friend.

Bet leaves to cherish her very most fond memories her one and only daughter; Lisa Edwards of Norwalk, CT., Her Sister and brother whom took care of her until the end Emma (Maurice) Williams of Windsor, NC., James Rodgers of Williamston, NC. And Thessie Rodgers of Norwalk, CT. Host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Proceeded her in death are her parents, the Late Mrs. Hattie and Mr. Richard Reid Sr.
