Clifton Earl Boyd, affectionately known as “Cliff”, was born January 11, 1953. Adopted by Ardetha Hunter and raised as her only son, Cliff often shared stories and lessons learned from his beloved mother who preceded him to her eternal home.
Cliff grew up in Edward, NC and attended S.W. Snowden Elementary School in Aurora. He graduated from Aurora High School in 1972. For 33 years, he was a consistent, dedicated worker at Texas Gulf (PCS Phosphate) now called Nutrien. Cliff was a devoted husband, father, and friend to many. He rarely met a stranger. Cliff loved to talk, which made it easy for him to reach people, right where they were. For many, those conversations became life lessons, or were used as guidance for navigating life. Cliff loved music, movies, and photography. Even from a young age he was gifted to work on mechanical things and carpentry - taking things apart and rebuilding them. Cliff Boyd was truly a man of wisdom and an inspiration to everyone who met him.
He leaves to mourn a wife, Debra K. Boyd of the home; children: Yolanda Sheppard of Virginia, Bradford Boyd of Greenville, Mark Boyd (Tracy) of Blounts Creek, Aaron Moore (Francy) of New Jersey, Emmanuel Moore of Greenville, Alethea Leach (Jonathon) of Durham, and Johnny Byrd, Jr. (Tierra) of New Bern. Also left to mourn are his 15 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
